British American Tobacco (BAT) Case Study: Supplier Rationalisation
Introduction
The business challenge
BAT were looking to standardise to a single outsourced service management partner in the UK. In order to do this effectively they needed to evaluate the best model on which to tender (consolidated or distributed infrastructure).
Our approach
entier were engaged to review BAT’s infrastructure and to look at the benefits offered by consolidating the UK’s infrastructure into a single data centre prior to outsourcing services to a single provider. Our evaluation and recommendations concluded there were no benefits in consolidating the infrastructure, as the supplier discounts would not justify the consolidation expense. This was fully endorsed by the incumbent project team, which changed the direction and shape of the project from a consolidated to a distributed approach. This saved the project team over 500k (GBP) and still maintained the target costs savings of circa 1M (GBP) in the first year.
Delivering results
