British American Tobacco (BAT) Case Study: XP Desktop Rollout
BAT's HQ desktop environment had become difficult to manage. Users had elevated privileges, which allowed them to install desktop software products. This resulted in high management overhead and support costs.
Our approach
The project's key objectives were to standardise the desktop environment based on global strategic builds and platforms, and at the same time bring back control of the environment. This was made more challenging by the type of users located in the HQ, namely VIPs and directors so the whole project had to be customer centric, with minimal intrusion/disruption to their day to day operation.
entier was engaged to define the delivery approach, review build and data collection processes and to programme manage the rollout to 1500 consumers. This was completed successfully in January 2005 though a careful approach that involved strategic engagement with customers and a well planned schedule of speedy implementation.
Delivering results
entier programme manager, Conrad Jones led and delivered the programme.
