British American Tobacco (BAT) Case Study: Resilient SAN Deployment
The business challenge
BAT's key drivers for a resilient SAN deployment were to increase business continuity provision and consolidate a growing number of departmental servers into a single clustered server farm.
Our approach
entier's engagement was primarily to bring back on track this ailing project which had gone over time and budget, had poor supplier relationships and been running for 9 months.
When entier initially evaluated the position, there was no detailed design, no credible delivery plan and key technical resources missing. Key dependencies had not been catered for and key risks had not been mitigated. We engaged relevant technical resources, completed the detailed design and re planned in co-ordination with the strategic delivery partner (HP). Supplier relationships were repaired and key dependencies/risks dealt with. The 4Tb resilient SAN was implemented successfully within agreed timeframe (3Mths) and budget. Successful fail over tests were performed as part of the handover to service management teams.
Delivering results
entier programme manager, Conrad Jones led and delivered the programme with entier technical consultant Laurence Dale.
